Pan-Shih Management Guidelines

Revised on April 29th, 2021

Ⅰ. Goal

The Center for Artificial Intelligence Research at Chang Gung University (hereafter referred to as "the Center") aims to develop AI-related technologies and research in collaboration with other research centers within the university, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and other related institutions. The Center also participates in AI innovation and application research projects with Formosa Plastics Group, and has established an AI machine room named "Panshi" to provide the necessary software and hardware equipment.   In order to fully utilize the resources available on the Pan-Shih platform and maximize its benefits, the Center provides virtual machine deployment functionality (Openstack) and container management deployment functionality (Kubernetes) through the xPortal platform. The services provided include: (1) CPU computing services, (2) GPU computing services, and (3) data storage services. These services are available to Formosa Plastics Group, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Chang Gung University, and other related institutions for teaching, research, product development, and other purposes as needed. These guidelines are established according to the "Chang Gung University Equipment and Resource Management Regulations

Ⅱ. Instrumentation and Service Platform

The equipment and facilities available at the Center for providing services are as follows:

Four AI large-scale computing servers

  1. One HPC computing server
  2. Two CPU computing servers
  3. One set of data storage equipment

These resources provide approximately 264 CPU cores, 40 NVIDIA Tesla V100 cores, and 1,000TB of data storage space.

Ⅲ. Service Method

In order to maintain the normal operation of the Panshi platform, the Center deploys all services through xPortal. The platform provides three different service modes, and their corresponding solutions are as follows:

(Ⅳ) If a three-year contract is signed at once, it will be calculated at a 10% discount based on the fee schedule

Ⅴ. Application Procedure

Applicants for the Panshi Platform services should fill out the application form (click here to download). After the application is approved, it may take 1-2 working days before the service can be used. The application process is as follows:

(Ⅰ) Download the application form from the center's website, fill it out, and send it via email to the center's email address.

(Ⅱ) After the application is approved, the system will send a message to the applicant's email address. It may take 1-2 working days before the applicant can access the xPortal management page.

(Ⅲ) After the account is activated, the center will calculate and invoice the monthly fees for the plan and time used by the account at the end of each month. The applicant must pay the fees to continue using the service.

VI. Service Notes

(Ⅰ) As the billing method is based on time, please contact the Chang Gung University Artificial Intelligence Research Center before applying.

(Ⅱ) Applications that have not been consulted in advance will not be accepted by the center.

(Ⅲ) Although the service storage system has a backup mechanism, applicants are advised to regularly backup their data. The center will not provide compensation for data loss that is not caused by the center.

(Ⅳ) The center does not interfere with the services provided by the applicant. If the applicant's service content involves illegal or copyright issues, the center will not assume any responsibility. At the same time, if the report is found to be true, the center has the right to suspend the account of the applicant who submitted the application

Ⅶ. Payment methods

At the end of each month, the Center will consolidate the plans and schedules carried out by the applicants during that month and send them to their mailbox. Applicants are requested to confirm the information, sign and stamp the plan or company seal, and submit it to the Center's staff for invoice processing and payment at the accounting department.

Ⅷ. Revenue Management

In order to ensure the sustainable development of the Center, upgrade equipment, and improve service quality, in addition to the fees charged by Chang Gung University being fully used by the Center, 10% of the total revenue from Chang Gung Hospital and other unit services will be used as school management fees, and the remaining 90% will be used by the Center. After being accounted for by the accounting department, the revenue will be used for equipment purchase or upgrading, personnel salaries or bonuses, improving business service quality, maintenance expenses and consumables related to the operation of the Center. All expenses shall be processed in accordance with relevant laws and regulations of the University when they occur.

Ⅸ. Publication of Theses and Declarations

When using the Panshi Platform Service provided by the Center for academic research, the acknowledgement section of any publications resulting from the research should include a statement acknowledging the support provided by the Center.

Ⅹ. Implementation Procedures

This guideline will be announced and implemented after it is approved by the university president, and any amendments will follow the same process.
